First meeting 👋

First of all, we strongly advise you to wash your socks before wearing them . This first wash should also respect the steps that follow, so that it is as gentle as possible and allows the colors to set well . We know that after buying a nice pair of socks, we just want to put them on, but a little patience, and you will be all the happier to have waited for them!

Washing 🧼

Step 1: Checking the surroundings (not mandatory)

If you are brave enough when you are preparing your laundry to put it in the washing machine, you can close the zippers of your clothes . It is not essential, but metal objects can sometimes damage your clothes during the spin cycle.

Step 2: Upside down

To preserve the colors of your socks, we strongly advise you to wash them inside out . They will come out even more beautiful and better washed.

Step 3: The bag, the bag, the bag!

An essential step! As with lingerie and tights, washing bags protect socks from other clothes and from repeated movements of the washing machine. And what's more, this technique will allow you not to lose them and to gather them together to make your task easier when hanging them out.

Step 4: 30° degree maximum!

Your socks do n't need to be scalded, they really don't like it! The best thing to do is to wash them by hand , but otherwise, a delicate program at 30° and a reduced spin are recommended. Also avoid all products that are too abrasive, bleaching or other color revivers!

Step 5: Be careful with drying

To dry them, do not use a tumble dryer !! The hot air and the violent swirls of it are really too aggressive for the socks.

So dry them in the open air, and flat if possible, so as not to deform them.

Storage 🧺

Are you tired of digging through your sock basket every morning to find two identical ones? It seems a bit obvious to say, but storing your socks properly will save you a lot of time and space!

For this, two techniques:

The famous "sock ball" , where you tuck one sock into the other. A fairly practical and quick technique that allows you to gather your socks easily.

But to better preserve your socks and save as much space as possible in your closet, you can also fold your socks into a square (yes, yes, yes, it's possible!). Place your socks in a cross shape and fold them over each other until you get a closed square. Okay, we admit, the explanation may not be very clear. But we found a great explanatory video that will be worth 1000 speeches, to watch right here .

All that's left is to wear them! 👣

Be gentle with your socks! Especially if they are sheer socks, put them on as gently as you would pantyhose and be careful of any nails, rings, or anything else that might catch. Treating your socks as gently as you do your pantyhose will make them last ten times longer!

We can't repeat them enough, but all of these recommendations are really the key to healthy socks (yes, socks are healthy too!).

Generally speaking, if you have a specific doubt about the care of one of your pairs of socks, read the labels ! Brands are often aware that the small accessory requires special attention. And if not, you can always find this article on the Journal d'Atelier St Eustache.

And you, how do you fold your socks? Do you prefer flat folding or do you prefer a ball fold? 🧦

Honestly, around here we usually go for the second option, even if the first seems much better!
