Posted by Atelier St Eustache on

The Danish art of living, the recipe for happiness?

In these gloomy times, we are all aware that it is more essential than ever
to take care of yourself . Need a little comfort?

This article is for you

Imagine yourself, in this winter period , drinking a hot tea, in comfortable socks , while watching the snow fall. Well wrapped up in your favorite blanket, you listen to the soft sound of the fire crackling in your fireplace. In Denmark all these good things have a name: Hygge ! A real art of living that seduces. But what is their secret? This is what we are going to tell you in this new article of the day.

1) What is Hygge?

Hi-gue? Ygeu? Hygé?

How you pronounce it and even write it doesn't matter at all. In fact,
It is not spelled out but lived . Hygge has been defined in several ways, by the way
from "the art of creating intimacy" to " comforting the soul ", or even "taking pleasure
to the presence of soothing objects." We are here about creating an atmosphere
and an experience: being with the people you love and having the feeling of being
in his place
.

2) Light, a crucial element

To fully enjoy this art of living , no recipe is complete without light.

The lower its temperature, the more pleasant it is. The quickest way to recreate this atmosphere is to light candles . Indeed, they create a feeling
of happiness and comfort
. Then you have to choose their location carefully to create a soothing oasis of light . It is almost an art form, a science. A way of life that is pushed as far as it can be, if one day you visit a Scandinavian student,
that you might come across a Verner Panton lamp for 1,000 euros in his 30m2 apartment.

3) The hygge first aid kit: the essentials

a little time for you
