But this time, we are going to talk about the second collection of women's socks from Atelier St Eustache: London .
After explaining in more detail where the inspirations for the models that Violette designed came from in a previous article . We give you some anecdotes about these same inspirations.
Let's get straight to the point!
🌸 The first model in this collection is Flower of London .
This model with floral dominants is actually an anecdote in itself. When Violette let her inspiration and pencil strokes wander, she observed this famous originality . The plan of the districts in the center of the city formed a flower if they were highlighted. A beautiful discovery that then inspired a model for Violette.
🎡 The second model is London Eye .
Inspired by the famous Ferris wheel that allows you to observe the entire city up to 40km . The little pompoms actually represent the capsules of the Ferris wheel. The anecdote is as follows: 32 capsules are attached to the gigantic frame. But they are numbered from 1 to 33 , do you know why? Apparently, the English are superstitious since no capsule bears the number 13. Do you want another anecdote? Top model Kate Moss has been on the London Eye Ferris wheel 25 times … a die-hard fan !
🏠 The third model is Notting Hill .
This time, and as for the Tokyo collection , it is a neighborhood that inspired Violette. The Notting Hill neighborhood, which became chic and trendy during the 1960s , has its own carnival . Formerly a welcoming land for Irish and West Indian immigrants, the neighborhood created this colorful and rhythmic carnival to pay tribute to these Caribbean populations that it welcomed. The Notting Hill carnival takes place every last weekend of August and extends over more than 5km .
🏭 The fourth model is Tate Modern .
These socks designed by Violette draw their inspiration from the famous Museum of Modern Art located on the right bank of the Thames. A museum that Violette loved to visit when she lived in the English megalopolis. She also particularly liked the architecture of the building . A former power station that was rehabilitated into a museum by the architects Herzog & de Meuron . Two Swiss who established their architectural firm in Basel, Switzerland, whose work is very much appreciated by Violette .
🌊 The fifth and final model is Thames .
Thames is a more particular model in the sense that it is made neither of lines nor of polka dots. It is also not a geographical or floral pattern. It is therefore different from all the other models of transparent socks Atelier St Eustache. It is the famous river that crosses the city of London, which inspired Violette to design this model. Water being an element always in motion , forming waves according to the wind. The anecdote of this model is therefore directly linked to its curved design , which is unique in the St Eustache collection.
