MILAN: BETWEEN FASHION AND DESIGN

Posted by Atelier St Eustache on

A few months ago, Milan Fashion Week took place, an event eagerly awaited by all fashion enthusiasts. Over time, Milan has earned its place as the capital of fashion, but also of design. A city like St Eustache, we produce our socks not far from it ;)

Milan, the capital of shopping

Fashion center , the city is the favorite destination for fans of Italian haute couture (but not only). The "Quadrilatero" district is THE district of luxury houses : Versace, Valentino, Armani, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton... The biggest names in fashion are based here.

Outfits, accessories, shoes, perfumes , you will definitely find what you are looking for in one of its boutiques or among smaller Italian designers . Also, to treat yourself without breaking the bank, there are the "outlets" : stores offering old collections at reduced prices .

Milan Fashion Week

Milan, unlike other cities hosting fashion week , is not a capital. If for many years Italian cities fought to attract the attention of the press and potential buyers, Milan has managed to stand out thanks to its status as an industrial city and therefore its possibility of obtaining good production equipment .

Having become the home of Italian designers , it later became the headquarters of Vogue Italy . The arrival of many designers such as Moschino and Prada helped to attract attention to Milan and its fashion week , giving rise to remarkable shows such as that of Versace in 1991 which brought together the " supermodels " within Freedom! by George Michael .

Milanese architecture

The city is not left behind in terms of architecture , alternating between very modern architecture and old buildings . The most famous infrastructures remain the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II , a neoclassical shopping gallery that passes between the famous Duomo of Milan and La Scala .

This dome is none other than the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary , the third largest church in the world and the second largest Gothic cathedral , impressive both for its size and its architecture.

Design in Milan

In addition to its various buildings, Milan is a city that loves design in all its forms and this is reflected in its various hotels and design cafes that are adorned with superb furniture and accessories that are almost impossible to find elsewhere, but also in its various boutiques offering the creations of the biggest names in current design . In addition to this, every year, the Milan Furniture Fair takes place, which this year will take place from June 7 to 12.

This show is open to professionals during the week and then opens its doors to individuals on the weekend . It brings together no fewer than 2,200 exhibitors and focuses on three categories: classic, design and luxury . In addition to the exhibitors at the show itself, you can find various exhibitions to immerse yourself in the world of design .

And you, have you ever set foot (and socks) in Milan?
