What is a sequin?
Sequins come in all sorts, shapes and materials, and are sometimes called " sequins ". Generally speaking, they are small strips made from mica , metal or plastic . They are found sewn onto clothing , accessories , but also in our cosmetics or plates ! Obviously, the material is no longer the same in these different cases.
The first sequins were made from waste from old plastic bottles , today they are made from plastic , always, but also from aluminum to reinforce the reflective power of the sequin. At St Eustache , our sequins are still different. The shiny effect is achieved from extremely fine sparkling metallic threads .
Sequins and Man, a thousand-year-old affair
If we look more closely at its history , we see that glitter has always been there, close to men. In prehistoric times, men added mica to colored pigments in order to obtain a glittery effect on their paintings. The Mayans used the same material to make their temple shine while the Egyptians used glitter directly on their faces to make them shine .
But the invention of glitter as we know it today is more of a coincidence . It was Henry Rushman who, trying to get rid of his company's plastic waste by crushing it, realized that the crushed residues shone because they captured light . This is how modern glitter was born in 1934. Henry Rushman 's company is also dedicated solely to the production of glitter and its most creative applications.

We often associate glitter with the world of magic , princesses and stories, the costumes we wore when we were children...
