For a photoshoot to be successful, you have to dedicate time to it ! But the end result is so nice that we wouldn't change it under any circumstances!
In this new article, we present all our tips for creating a quality professional shoot.
Over time, Atelier St Eustache's photoshoots and their preparation have obviously evolved. For the first one, Violette asked for advice from a designer friend, Coralie Prévert . The latter gave her tips for matching clothes together. Today, Violette has become an expert in carrying out her photoshoots! Below we explain how we organize ourselves.
Prepare the outfits đź‘—
Once all the models in the collection are ready, it is time to find the outfits. To do this, Violette looks at the different looks she has already done during her other shootings. She then keeps some basics and looks for new ideas.
Then, she creates a board on InDesign where she gathers together all the clothes and shoes she has spotted, whether in her own wardrobe or on the internet. The seasonality and colors of the collections always have a great importance in the choice of outfits.
In another painting, she places the pairs of socks and begins to associate them with the other clothes. For the Tokyo socks, for example, she favors pumps because they allow to highlight their pattern. This allows to visualize the socks in several situations and helps you to better project yourself.
Choose brands ✔️
Violette also tries to use designer clothes for her photoshoots. That's why you can regularly see products from Mamamushi , Juch , Pied de Biche , Bobbies , My Eponyme , Laure Derrey or Les Petites Jupes de Prune . It's a way to support the world of creation and to surround Atelier St Eustache transparent socks with quality clothing.
Because good basics remain essential , she goes to Zara, Uniqlo or H&M, and to find pieces that go particularly well with the St Eustache style, she often goes to COS.
Favor the basics đź‘–
The goal of these shootings is to highlight socks, but with clothes that everyone is likely to have in their closets . The transparent sock being little known, it is a way to reassure the most hesitant who would be afraid of not knowing how to match this accessory.
Having an overview of all the outfits makes it easier to vary the styles. At Atelier St Eustache, some are intended to be more feminine, others more casual or even minimalist in the Japanese style. You should also think about alternating the different types of shoes . Pumps, loafers, derbies, sneakers, ankle boots…, none should be forgotten!
The choice of places ⛩️
Shootings are also the art of finding the places that perfectly match your brand and your collection. For this, our photographer Clara is a great help because she knows the most unusual architectural places in Paris.
It is also interesting to do some prospecting in advance . For Atelier St Eustache, this was the case for the Spring-Summer 2018 collection, shot at La DĂ©fense. During this prospecting, Violette was able to identify the settings, the floors (very important when shooting feet!) , the walls and even the vegetation to highlight the outfits. For example, a magnolia in bloom went perfectly with the pretty pair of Nakameguro Pink and a purple wall went perfectly with the Tokyo Prune socks.
As the venue was very large, this allowed us to be more efficient on the day. Shootings are quite complicated to organize because you have to get everyone together on the same date and hope that the weather is good, so you might as well optimize the time spent on site!
The photos of the places, socks and clothes are then gathered in the same table so that everything can be understood very quickly.

Just before the shooting đź•š
When everything is well organized, Violette sends her guide to Clara and Suzanne a little before the big day so that they can immerse themselves in the world of the collection.
And the day before the shoot, it's time to iron ! It would be a shame if the pretty photos were accompanied by ugly creases. The challenge is to store all of this in a huge suitcase so that the different clothes are easy to find.
(Not like that!)
✨ D-Day ✨
Everyone meets at the shooting location and the photoshoot can finally begin!
As you may have noticed, photo shoots are a big part of organization and framing. However, it is true that the unpredictable always comes along . The tree that was in bloom a week before will have lost its petals, the rain can start to fall and a horde of tourists arrive at any moment. Sometimes a photo doesn't turn out well when you thought everything would be fine, and conversely, there can be some very nice surprises. But we have the advantage of having a very professional photographer and model, so the shoots are always successful!
After all this process, it's time to discover the captured photos: the culmination of all the work!
There you have it, now you know all our tips for creating a quality photoshoot. And as you may have noticed, the secret is in the OR-GA-NI-SA-TION ! We hope you enjoy the Backstage articles, because for us it is truly a pleasure to show you behind the scenes at Atelier St Eustache!
